There was gold gilding everywhere on this holiday. so insane. for all the bad that comes with old world aristocracy it lead to so many beautiful buildings. and even crazier to think a lot of these places were destroyed in the war so in modern times theyve been restored. makes me go… australia you suck. but we’re babies. have to remember we’re just a new little island of convicts. (and nomadic peoples who didnt want to build crazy palaces)

Saint Isaac’s Cathedral, so amazing. All the pictures on the walls aren’t paintings, they’re mosaics. insane. check out the massive lapis lazuli and malchite columns

Catherine’s Summer Palace, She liked the pope’s private quarters in the vatican so had them exactly replicated. The real ones were destroyed and reproduced according to these so these are actually more original!
