Studies of [South African?] plants by Robert Jacob Gordon, 1777-86 (via Rijksmuseum)

Sometimes the best botanical art is the type you can’t identify. Our triennial exhibition Weird, Wild, & Wonderful, opening April 19, brings together new pieces in the tradition of these older works. It makes you realize how nature must have looked to the earliest explorers. ~LM

I cant see the point in anything right now. In the level of why should I bother getting up in the morning but also on the level of what is life’s point? Was talking about kids with teacher last night and its like I love kids theyre geniuses and fascinating and fascinated and brilliant and I think I want to have kids but then they have to grow up and have problems and go through all the things im going through and its awful and I dont want that for them. And just its all too much. You have to go to school and to work and wake up and get ready cook dinner clean your house have friends let alone trying to have a career and work on yourself while at the same time having a family if you want to. Cos if I want kids really I have to have them in the next 10 years. And I think once im a mum thats it really I stop counting and everything is for them for the rest of my life (not that my mum has nothing for herself i dont hassle her with my stuff now but that’s just how I feel like I want it to be) and the dudes at school were like no but you just have them when your parents are young enough to look after them so you can continue to have a life but thats so unfair on my parents. I just dont get it. I wish you could have kids healthily when you were like 50 and ready to retire because then you really can devote your life to them. But its all just too much. I just want one task a year. Like just carrots. Thats it. No cooking cleaning working school clothes deciding anything. Just carrots. That’s it. Grow them harvest them do what ever with them (cook them but I know what youre thinking you said no cooking but I mean no thinking about making nice meals grocery shopping prep taking 3 hours to cook lovely things (which I love I adore food but its toooo much)) that’s it. Carrots.

Lifestyle photographer Grace Chon recently turned the camera on her 10-month-old baby Jasper and their 7-year-old rescue dog Zoey, putting them side-by-side in the some of the most adorable portraits ever.
